With several successful
books published - humin hopes and The Castle of Andalusia
- Pigface Press took on the marketing of three titles where
historian and writer Dr Suzanne Dixon (Pigface's partner)
is author, editor, or contributor: The Roman Family, Pre-Industrial
Women, and Hidden Desires. The histories will appeal to general
readers as well as specialists, and the collection of women's
writing in Hidden Desires will engage and delight all.
In 2016 the Melbourne
firm Australian Scholarly Publishing issued another book of
mine, a history/biography called Alias Blind Larry, the mostly
true memoir of James Laurence the singing convict. Reviews
have been very positive:
A great work of
Australian theatre history and a very readable book.
Royal Australian Historical Society Journal
It is both a Jewish
story and an Australian story. It has chutzpah. It has humour.
I loved the book.
John Levi, Australian Jewish Historical Society Journal
A major achievement
in historical scholarship.
Meg Quinlisk, Inside History
More titles are
in preparation under the Pigface imprint to further cement
our reputation as a specialist "in works that give unique
insights into Australia and its history."
